Meet Mandy
Becoming a Marriage Celebrant had been a long-standing goal of mine, one that remained on my bucket list for many years. In March 2024, that dream finally became a reality when I received my authorisation number from the Attorney-General’s Department of Australia, a truly proud and memorable milestone.
My long-term plan was always to transition to a quieter, more self-sufficient lifestyle once my children had grown and left home. The vision included relocating to the countryside, purchasing a large property with the potential to host ceremonies, and embracing semi-retirement.
Following the move from Salamander Bay, NSW to Binnaway, I began studying to become an Authorised Civil Celebrant. The course itself, a Certificate IV in Celebrancy, was both intensive and rewarding. However, completing the course is just the beginning.
To become an authorised celebrant, I was required to apply to the Attorney-General’s Department, submit a National Police Check, provide personal references, and demonstrate meaningful community involvement. The process took several months, and in my case, a three-month wait before receiving confirmation of my official status as an Authorised Civil Celebrant.
Leaving behind my friends, my beautiful home, and the coastal lifestyle of Salamander Bay was a significant change. While the transition hasn’t been without its challenges (something I’ll share more about in future blog posts), it has also brought incredible opportunities for growth.
As a professional Celebrant, it is important to be a member of professional associations, click below to see which associations I am part of.
